The Redesign of Wine Country Lifestyle

The redesign of Wine Country Lifestyle was a pretty big deal here at Left Coast Marketing. WCL (we call it) is a magazine that we produce, customized per client. Because each magazine is customized, redesigning the magazine also meant that we would be redesigning our Clients' magazine – so we were cautious not to let our ego get ahead of us. Market research is what we began with. Who is our customer? Who, ultimately, will be the one flipping through the pages, reading the articles, and admiring the photography? In our line of business, our customer goes beyond our Client. The true customer is our Client's customer. In this case, it is the wine club member who just opened up their club shipment and decided to flip through the pages of the enclosed magazine (meanwhile sipping on their new wine and reminiscing about the wine country). Once we nailed down the WHO, we got to begin on the WHAT. We put together a few mocks for a new cover design and table of contents, and sure enough we had a winner.

The new logo for Wine Country Lifestyle now emphasizes "Lifestyle" versus "Wine Country," a small but important detail to us as a company. We are looking to expand beyond the box of the wine country, meanwhile maintaining roots in where we are. After all, it is clear to any passer-by that we are rooted in the wine country, and we sure do not produce wine, so let's focus more on the lifestyle that us local wine-lovers live.

St. Francis Winery got to be the first Client experiencing the new design. They have been a fabulous Client to work with, as it is not their first time in the rodeo, and they are open to the magazine evolving as we evolve. We are excited to present this Fall's Wine Country Lifestyle, and invite you to flip through the pages of our digital version.

What is Wine Country Lifestyle?  It is a customized magazine.  Our magazine merges custom content about your business with articles about local places to stay and activities to do.  What do WE provide?  Not only do we put the magazine together for you, but we provide the brand, a table of contents, and four articles on local destinations.  Each article talks about either "Taste," "See and Do," "Stay and Play" or "Farm to Table."  The purpose of the magazine is to entertain your customers through features of places where they can actually visit and experience all thanks to your business for dropping the magazine into their hands. What does the FALL Issue include?  Well, we don't want to share everything just yet...  we will save that for those who sign-up.  But we can tell you that we went on a Safari ride recently, just so that our team could get a real feel for the article on Safari West!

As a side note - we are keeping it local.  Not only do we include content about local businesses, but we also have a team of local talent to get the job done.  From writers and editors to photographers and designers, we take pride in providing local talent for a true taste of the Wine Country.

What is Wine Country Lifestyle Magazine?

Wine Country Lifestyle is a full color lifestyle magazine featuring individual wineries and regional lifestyle content developed for the wine enthusiast. Wine Country Lifestyle Magazine (WCL Magazine) represents the confluence of several marketing communications: a quarterly newsletter, wine catalog, loyalty gift and lifestyle magazine all bundled into an elegant package.

WCL Magazine is designed as a member gift to be included in each wine club shipment sent to each member. Available in both print and digital format WCL Magazine is personalized for each participating winery client with custom covers (front, back, inside front and inside back) as well as the inside feature spread (4 pages) showcasing each winery’s brand and products.

Each edition is regionally specific and produced quarterly in tune with each winery’s club shipment schedule. Inside the magazine are related wine country lifestyle articles highlighting the local wine region featured in professionally formatted and eye-catching editorial. The publication can include sections on Wine Country Adventure, Culinary (Farm to Table) including recipes, Wine Education, Wine Estates & Architecture, Art & Style, Local Discoveries, and much more.

Wine Country Lifestyle v.1 Digital Edition

The past year has been a whirlwind since launching Wine Country Lifestyle Magazine with the Norris Group. Over 1,000 copies o the magazine are being shipped to Geyser Peak Winery club members as I write this blog post. Needless to say we are PUMPED that the WCL magazine is off the ground and working its magic to help drive wine club member sales and retention...future blog posts will include metrics tied to our first case study with Geyser Peak Winery and Accolade Wines North America.
